About the Department

The mission of the New Mexico Environment Department is to protect and preserve the environment for present and future generations. Our work means that New Mexicans and visitors to our state enjoy clean air and water and pristine lands. Our work also ensures that the food enjoyed at restaurants around the state is safe to eat and that New Mexico’s workers feel safe at work. We invite you to visit our website to learn more about the important work the New Mexico Environment Department is doing for you every day and how we can help.
