March 20, 2020 – 350 Tablets Distributed to Nursing Facilities Across the State to Improve Communications for Residents and their Loved Ones
Providing Half a Million Meals to Homebound, Low-income Seniors and Adults with Disabilities
July 1, 20202 – The State Aging and Long-Term Services Department wraps up the food boxing and distribution operation that provided more than half a million meals to homebound, low-income seniors and adults with disabilities across the state of New Mexico. 509,866 Meals Delivered, $750,000 Worth of Food Purchased, 710,896 Pounds of Food Boxed, 2,040 Volunteers.
Increasing Access & Equity to the COVID Vaccine to Keep Our Seniors Safe
January 20, 2021 – The State’s Aging and Long-Term Services Department announced that all 309 of New Mexico’s Nursing Homes and Assisted Living Facilities (including staff and residents) will have been offered the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.

Supporting Vulnerable Children
May 5th, 2020 – New Mexico families received more than $97 million in additional food benefits – enough to feed about 245,000 vulnerable children — following federal approval of a Pandemic Electronic Benefit Transfer Program.
Providing Emotional & Mental Support
August 3rd, 2020 – HSD announced a campaign to raise awareness about the availability of a 24/7 statewide emotional support helpline to assist New Mexicans who are experiencing anxiety, stress or emotional challenges due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Tackling Opioid Addiction in New Mexico
May 28, 2021 – HSD announces improved access to opioid addiction treatment providers using a one-stop search map and the increased availability of video and phone provider treatment services.

Identifying COVID-19 Testing Sites & Potential PPE Shortages
May 25th, 2020 – The Department of Health stood up the COVID Provider Portal to identify COVID testing sites, track specimens sent to labs, and PPE shortages across the state.
Building Community Immunity
December 17th, 2020 – The Department of Health launches the Statewide Vaccination Tool and is recognized as a national leader in vaccine distribution and administration. In one year, over 90% of New Mexicans 18+ have received their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.
Communicating to Stop the Spread
New Mexico launches it’s own Exposure Notification System. The app notifies users if they have come into contact with someone that confirms an infection.
